The first lady's locs only look like her new growth grew away from her locs in the front. They Just need to be added back to the original locs. The sister has micro locs so those locs thrive on a different maintenence schedule. They don't need to be tight, but they have to be done often enough to keep the roots and newgrowth, together in each respective lock. If you wait too long to touch up new growth on micro locks. Y you can find yourself with a tangled mess in the roots and you can find yourself having to do a lot of repair to your luck locs because they may have the tendency of thinning out from the new growth, not staying with thee original loc. Simply put micro locs require a different lock maintenance schedule than traditional locs and that does not make them inherently weak or bad they're just different, but they can thrive just like all other locks can. If a person has very fine hair, they may want to do their new growth once a month or once every other month. They have to do something or their locs may thin out because of new growth, straying away from the original loc. I have braidlocs that are about the size of the sister's locs in this video. I tried to go 4-5months without without redoing my new growth and all I ended up with was a tangled mess of locks that in some areas we're thinning out because the new growth wasn't staying incorporated in the original locs. So now when I wash my hair and let it air dry, I feel around my roots to see which one's have new growth and I redo them if they have a 2 fingertip width Of new growth, i've been doing that for over 17 years and I have not lost one loc on my head, not one. Due to postpartum situations, I've had my hair thin out around the edges, and that all has recovered over time. Layer, due to hormonal changes. I've had different parts on the top of my hair get finer, but as I massage and try different oils I've found that even those areas have gone back to normal. I think it's important to watch what's going on with your health and pay attention to all areas of your scalp. Sometimes, if you have high blood pressure that that can cause the top back of your hair to be thinner. I found out that I had sleep apnea I found that sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure for some women after menopause, and that was the reason for my hair being thinner in certain sections. All that now is in better control now thank God. You have to stay on top of your hair so that you can keep it healthily flowing and growing from your scalp. Blessings family.

I have Graves Disease and Hyperthyroidism too, I had similar symptoms that worried me and hence went to the doctors. Almost a year later, I have accepted it and now doing things to help ease symptoms for myself. I get reactions to my meds, but if I dont take my meds my hyperthyroidism gets worse. Its been a mental endurance battle dealing with taking meds that helps, but creates other symptoms (i.e., skin rash that itches like crazy, weight gain, gut issues etc). Coincidentally, I clicked on your video about Lumpies in dreads and subscribed immediately, because I have lumpies in my dreads. But how precious to know we share a similar journey with having an autoimmune disease. Thanks for speaking out, I mostly do not talk about my symptoms and always feeling exhausted. Its nice to hear that someone understands what its like to live with it. I'm thankful its helped me to reflect alot more on things that matter to me and doing things at a different pace. However, also on most days, my mind still says I'm too young for this shizx 😂

I prefer to focus on my hair health instead of obsessing over aesthetics or worrying about loose hairs showing. It brings authenticity to my locs having a lot of imperfections like lumps and bumps.
